Ahead of Schedule: Books, Sketchcrawls, Workshops and Classes
It's a nice change of pace to be drawing outside again! Seattle Urban Sketchers met up at Seattle Art Museum, but if I have to pay to get in, I'm going to be looking, not drawing, so a few of us went across the street to the Market where I drew the corner of 1st and Pike:

The final workshop of the USk 10x10 series will be held at the Center for Wooden Boats:

This rustic collection of rusty flotsam needed a messy touch so I used gray markers and then smeared the ink around with a water-brush:

We won't have time for big detailed drawings on the actual workshop day, so I tried three smaller vignettes of about 30 mins each:

I met Donna at the UW Bookstore during her hour lunch break. Sometimes it's interesting to see what happens when I force myself to draw the scene in front of me, no matter how un-inspiring it may be:

USk met at the Panama Hotel in the International District. I drew the lobby over a hot chocolate:

My still-life class at Gage wrapped up last week:

I'll be taking the summer off from Gage to focus on the two books to be published in August, one with Monacelli Press and a bigger, more personal one to be self-published (watch for the Kickstarter in July!). All the artwork for both is finished, and the text will be submitted in a few weeks. My fifth book is already taking shape in my mind– lots of color. Have to make myself stay focused on the two at hand, though! One thing at a time...
Now, back to work!
