Substitute Teaching
Even though I spend most of my time drawing, I still like to substitute teach occasionally for a few select Seattle schools near my home. It's fun, provides a little extra income (very little!) and pulls me out of my own myopic navel-gazing for a day or two each week. Since I sub for the same half dozen teachers, the kids know me and we have our routines. Here are the Lincoln Elementary 4th graders in the computer lab:

I don't often take kids into the labs. It's boring for me, and I'd much rather be interacting with them, reading aloud, or helping them with their drawing or writing, but on the rare occasions when we do go in there, as directed by their regular teacher's sub plans, it's a good opportunity for me to sketch them. Here is a Lawton 2nd grade class:

Next week: preparing to tape some on-line classes to go live this spring.
Now, back to work.
