Walking Out, Walking Around.
Hey, Everybody!
I have a lot to share. I was surprised to see my mug staring at me from the front page of the Seattle Times yesterday. Reminded me of the movie Zelig. That's me front and center with my bike:

My on-line class launched almost a month ago, to lots of positive feedback, and is doing very well, thank you very much. If you haven't yet had a peek, you can click here for a preview and $10 off the regular price (Only $25! My Gage students pay $235!)
Speaking of my Gage class, we wrapped a 5-week "Personal Comics" making class and today started a 5-week Still-Life drawing class.

I've met with Seattle Urban Sketchers a couple of times. First in the Pioneer Square neighborhood, where I drew this sad little Greek Place. It started out as a Taco Bell. It reminds me of the little house that inspired the movie UP (which is also here in Seattle) surrounded by skyscrapers and the roar of city buses. It was so nice out I sunburned both my hands in the two hours it took to draw it:

Then we met up in Bothell at the Country Village Mall. It was nice to see Gabie (the founding father of the Urban Sketchers movement) and get to sketch with my partner Donna on a rare day off for her. It was overcast so the shadows weren't very pronounced, but a nice morning sitting near a pond of active and comically vocal ducks:

I spent all day Saturday, literally, walking around Seattle waiting for inspiration, but in the end, came home and drew my studio:

Finally, after a day of subbing for one of my favorite 2nd grade classes, I took advantage of another sunny day and drew this huge abandoned house two blocks from where I live. I often stop after the grayscale layers, but decided to color this one, and I'm glad I did:

Tomorrow I don't have to teach so I'll hit the gym, then work on a couple of comics for my upcoming memoir.

Makes a great gift. If you have an artsy fartsy father, Papa's Day is only a month away.
Now, back to work.
